The Battles of Napoleon is a gaming system that allows two players to recreate the most important historical battles of the era. Easy to learn and offering a wealth of strategic options, it gives you a fast and challenging game while pitting you against the same tactical problems that commanders of the Napoleonic age faced. Well-coordinated use of your infantry, cavalry and artillery, skillful maneuvering of your units and knowledge of the strong and weak points of your troops will be essential in leading your army to victory.
The Eagle and the Lion, the first game in the Battles of Napoleon series, gives you all you need to recreate many of the major clashes of the French and British Armies. No fewer than 10 battles are featured and each battle is described by a scenario, based on a major historical event. The choice of a scenario will determine the battlefield on which the game takes place, which troops are available to the two participants, the duration of the game (in turns), the victory conditions, and any special rules that may apply. Each player will command his troops as commander-in-chief.
In short, Battles of Napoleon provides an accessible introduction to players wishing to enjoy realistic battle simulation and at the same time offers the potential for a level of complexity that will appeal to long-time wargamers.
